Reel Plans by David Triezenberg

Measured drawings and construction notes —
delivered as PDF, ready to print or read.

Three sets of reel plans by reel builder David Triezenberg. Each set is delivered as a high-resolution PDF formatted as 8½″ × 11″ pages, with detailed construction notes, measured drawings of reel components and fixtures, and a table of weights and critical dimensions. Choose one of the two reel styles, or save by purchasing both as a bundle.

The construction notes provide additional details of fabricating the reel parts and fixtures. David uses a tabletop lathe and mill (Sherline) to fabricate the parts for his reels.

Great jumping-off point

There is not very much information on this topic out there. This is great for the basics, but also provides a solid foundation for getting creative and moving past the basics. Thanks for making this available.

I have built a couple from kits. Have the right equipment and now planning.

Great plans. In fact, talking with a water-jet guy in Boulder about small batch runs. For gifts and getting kids involved. I like both plans, but the round model will look great on a mantelpiece. I have a friend who ties the best flies I have ever seen, so maybe a combo salmon reel and flies display is on my mind. Thanks so much for offering the detailed and updated plans. I live in a senior-only apt and maybe could build interest with other retired guys. Thanks again.
